A 46 years old man Royce Doucet has died. He was a cancer patient.He was Galliano native and resident.
Most education leaders say Lafourche Parish suffered a great loss Friday with the death of Royce Doucet. Mr. Doucet was 46 years old. He died of complications related to surgery after years of battling cancer.
A Mass for Doucet will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano at 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano.
Throughout his life, Doucet played many roles.
From serving as a Lafourche Parish councilman to fundraising with the Sons of the American Legion, he never stopped his involvement with groups across the parish.
"He was a very outgoing, outspoken person," said Wayne Doucet, one of Royce's four brothers. "He was very competitive in himself to make sure everybody was successful."
